POSITION TITLE: Purchasing Manager
REPORTING TO: CFO
LOCATION: Calistoga, CA

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary Functions:
· Establish and maintain purchasing department procedures and policies.
· Assist MIS department in implementing new MRP progam.
· Monitor stock replenishment program in MRP system.
· Administer material and equipment acquisitions for multiple plants and office locations.
· Supervise one Buyer.
· Create saving strategies consistent with long-term company strategy
· Interface purchasing department with manufacturing and financial departments.
· Upgrade purchasing department computer programs as required.
· Oversee supplier agreements.
· Assume other assignments and responsibilities as directed by management.
· Budgetary (BOM) responsibility.
Essential duties:
· Prepare bill of material for all manufactured products.
· Provide data for standard costs.
· Maintain cost-of-goods data.
· Prepare annual departmental budget.
· Determine raw material inventory reorder points (MRO).
· Establish good vendor relations.
· Source new vendors for best quality materials.
· Identify & implement opportunities for cost reduction.
· Execute regulatory compliance for materials and products.
· Administer supplier contract reviews & renewals.
· Ensure best price for all acquisitions.
· Prepare and maintain detailed material specifications.
· Create & monitor material availability timelines for new product projects.
· Report Purchasing Department activity summary at Operations Committee meetings.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Minimum five years of purchasing experience, preferably for food, beverage or related products.
· Must have MRP implementation experience in a purchasing environment.
· Proven success in establishing, maintaining and continuously improving purchasing systems and procdures.
· Excellent purchasing systems background.
· Strong overall computer skills required.
· Supervisory experience managing at least one person in purchasing.
· Contract negotiation experience.
· History of establishing and maintaining successful vendor relationships.
· AS/400 experience is beneficial.
· Budgetary experience.
· Excellent inventory skills.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree required.
