POSITION TITLE:           Route Driver (Two PART-TIME positions available; positions could grow to full time)

REPORTING TO:             Sales Distribution Manager/Dispatching Supervisor

LOCATION:                       South San Francisco, CA 94080

OUR CLIENT:

The Company sells high grade seafood products to restaurants. Our primary customers are fine dining restaurants from approximately Big Sur to Napa. We focus on responsibly produced fresh and live seafood, but also offer a wide range of high caliber frozen seafood items. The Company is dedicated to sourcing and providing safe, traceable and sustainable seafood and is also committed to developing and promoting sustainable fisheries.

The Company seeks two Route Drivers, to drive the company vehicle over an established route, to deliver and sell products or render services, collect money from customers, and make any necessary changes.

Job Hours
There are two part-time positions available. The positions could grow to full time. The company operates six days a week; some Saturday work is required when necessary. Sundays, the company is closed. The hours are as follows:  the start time is anywhere from 5am to 8am, and the job will go from four to eight hours per day. You will know your schedule a week ahead of time.



SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Travels assigned geographical route to deliver products. You will come to the office every day and pick up the company vehicle. Your delivery route will be from Healdsburg to Big Sur. You will return the company vehicle to the office at the end of every shift.


  • Shifts are from approximately 6.00am to 3.00pm. We are looking for someone with a flexible schedule for alternate work hours for customer needs and possible on-call needs. In the future, there may be a later shift available.


  • Ensures vehicle is functioning property and that the vehicle’s refrigeration unit is operating within mandated temperature range before driving the route.


  • Inspects outgoing products prior to shipment for quality, paying particular attention to those orders for customers requesting quality control checks, weights, and customer specifications.


  • Develops and maintains excellent relationships with customers.


  • Learn the customer’s business needs.  Collect customer information and inform The Company sales and/or administration staff.


  • Informs Sales Dispatcher of any service or product complaints from the field, so that issues can be quickly resolved.


  • Ensures that all invoices are signed, collect cash or checks from customers if directed. Records all transactions on route sheet.


  • Picks up products from customers when directed by dispatcher or buyer.  Issue receipt or obtain customer signature for pickup or delivery.


  • Should there be extra product for the route, presents customer with the opportunity to purchase.


  • Informs customer of new products or services.


  • Deliver sales promotional materials (i.e., new product info, posters) to customers as directed by Sales or Distribution Managers.


  • Cleans inside and outside of assigned vehicle on a daily basis.


  • Perform routine inspection of The Company vehicles (i.e., check oil, battery, tires, etc.). Inform Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor of any items needing further attention.


  • Performs all other duties as assigned.




EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
One to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, work orders, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to communicate issues, concerns and problems of customers in writing and verbally. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.  

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Familiarity with the metric system required. Ability to use weight scales and read thermometers. Ability to add money and ability to read a map.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.  

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current driver's license with a driving record acceptable to The Company’s insurance company.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold.  The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.



EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Must submit to thorough background check, including driving record, and drug testing.
