POSITION TITLE:       Senior Cost Estimator (and Branch Manager)

REPORTING TO:          Principal

LOCATION:                  Los Angeles Area, CA
(Currently the office is in Santa Monica, but it can be relocated to an area closer to where the candidate lives).

Leland Saylor Associates, a nationally recognized construction cost consulting firm headquartered in San Francisco, has an immediate opening for an experienced, dynamic individual to continue our phenomenal growth. Leland Saylor Associates is a leader in the cost consulting industry on the West Coast, focused on public construction in the civic, transit, and educational markets.

Recent projects include the Tom Bradley International Terminal, the 7 bridge Bay Area Toll Authority estimating contract, and the $3.4 billion Lawrence Livermore National Ignition Facility.  Other types of projects include schools, university and research facilities, hospitals, fire stations, police facilities, parking garages, museums, courthouses, office buildings, and civil and transit projects such as highways, bridges, airports and light rail. Types of services are primarily design phase estimating, but may include on-site change order estimating, scheduling, document control, and/or claims analysis.

Saylor has an immediate opening for a senior level cost estimator to work on a variety of high profile, commercial and institutional project. The Los Angeles office is presently in Santa Monica and the other Saylor employees in the area work at client sites. This person would be the Senior Cost Estimator and the right candidate could be the Branch Manager of the Los Angeles office.

 

This is a full time, permanent position.

 

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:       
Recent projects include the Bay Bridge, Sacramento Airport, San Jose Airport, and other multi-million/billion projects including water infrastructure projects.  Other types of projects include schools, correctional facilities, university and research facilities, hospitals, fire stations, police facilities, parking garages, museums, courthouses, office buildings, and civil and transit projects such as highways, bridges, airports and light rail. Types of services are primarily design phase estimating, but may include on-site change order estimating, document control, and/or claims analysis.

We are looking for outstanding Senior Estimator with demonstrated ability to produce meticulous estimates at Concept, Schematic, Design Development, and Construction Documents, and a minimum of 10-15 plus years related experience in large institutional projects including civil, airports, rail, water, healthcare, school, higher education, correctional, justice, large office, etc.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:               

  • Estimating experience with large ($50 million++)civil projects (such as airports, hospitals, schools and universities, etc).
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel
  •  Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with Principals, Architects, Engineers, Construction Managers and Owners
  • The ability to manage budgets, schedules, and projects to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Existing base of client/owner contacts is a plus.

Saylor has multiple school/K-12 and community college projects in LA and school estimating experience is a big plus.
           
EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:             
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a closely related field.
