POSITION TITLE:           Construction Site Superintendent

Initial project is a three year, $30M+ custom winery project near Lompoc.

REPORTING TO:Project Manager on site

LOCATION:Lompoc, CA (Grassi & Associates is headquartered in Napa, but this project is near Lompoc)

Project is near the intersection of Santa Rosa Road and Highway 1.

Grassi & Associates seeks an experienced, Site Superintendent to join our team, for an initial project that is a three year, $30M+ custom winery near Lompoc.  We seek candidates who are interested in, and committed to becoming long-term members of the team, as the company grows in this geographic area.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Site Superintendent will oversee the construction project on site, on a daily basis. S/he will assist with the supervision of all onsite work, supervise/coordinate with all trade labor and subcontractors, and interface with the owner, architect, engineers, local officials, technicians and others.

Additional responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Work with the team to deliver the project on time and budget.
  • Plan layout and sequence of activities and schedule. Manage and layout all subcontractors’ work.
  • Review contract documents for planning purposes and to determine appropriate construction methods and construction sequencing.
  • Manage sub-contractors, vendors/suppliers, architects and change orders.
  • Oversee projects to maintain compliance with company policies, construction safety codes and other regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare daily logs for construction activities and daily project reports.
  • Coordinate with project team and building trades for the preparation and processing of project documentation, including, but not limited to submittals, daily logs, RFI’s and Change Order requests.
  • Develop and maintain positive, communicative relationships with the clients throughout the projects.
  • Be aware of and inquire about additional client work, and/or referrals.


EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED
We realize that every interested candidate might not have all of the desired experience, but here is what we are looking for in terms of experience and skills… the more you have, the better!

  • Seven to ten years minimum experience in general construction, with emphasis on high-end residential or boutique projects preferred. At least three years of successful Site Superintendent experience.
  • Strong ability to manage and layout all subcontractors’ work.
  • Excellent hands-on construction skills with complex projects. Strong carpentry skills a plus.
  • Knowledge of construction related technologies, quality assurance and quality control.
  • Knowledge of construction software; Grassi uses MS Project.
  • Ability to read and understand construction documents, schedules, and cost reports.
  • History of completing projects within budget and schedule.
  • Solid experience in construction “best practices.”
  • Experience managing custom construction projects in the multi-million dollar range.
  • Physical ability required to lift/handle materials.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions in all seasons.

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:
All education is beneficial. Preference given to candidates with construction related education, degree and/or formal training.
