POSITION TITLE: Project Manager, (Commercial Flooring Company-construction related)

We seek a Project Manager (PM) to create proposals, work directly with clients throughout the process, and drive each project to completion.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Position Overview: The PM will work with the team, most closely with the Project Administrator and Estimator, to put together thorough and accurate project proposals. The PM will be the primary point of contact from the beginning to end of each project.

 

Extensive use of Excel. You will put together the flooring proposals using building plans and quantities provided, gathering pricing and additional information, breaking out material/labor costs, and producing the proposal in a very detailed and accurate manner.

 

An important aspect of the position is relationship-building: with active clients, potential clients and people in a broader sphere of influence. Expand your network, by regular outreach to increase business, and to be considered in requests-for-proposals (RFP’s).  There is no cold-calling, but you will visit job sites and contact General Contractors, and various people within the industry, such as PM’s, Site Superintendents, Property Managers, Manufacturers’ Sales Reps, end-users, and others. You will represent Golden State Contract Flooring in a professional manner at all times, on the phone and in person.

 

Additional duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Create Change Order proposals, when there are additions/deletions to projects.
  • Work with Project Administrator, to follow up on material orders.
  • Work with Accounts Receivable, to follow up on billing and project payments.
  • Visit job sites, for pre-bid Job Walks.
  • Meet with General Contractors before projects begin, to make sure the jobs sites are ready to commence work.
  • Communicate with flooring installers during projects, to make sure jobs run smoothly and as planned.
  • Follow up after project is complete, to assess customer satisfaction and availability of additional work.

 

 

EXPERIENCE/SKILLSREQUIRED:

The company realizes that every interested candidate might not have all of the desired experience, and some training will be provided, but here is what they are looking for in terms of experience and skills… the more you have, the better!

 

  • Minimum of seven to ten years of professional experience, with three years of project management experience, OR Bachelor’s degree, plus at least five years of professional experience, including at least three years of project management experience.

 

  • Strong working knowledge using and manipulating of Excel spreadsheets. Advanced skills are a plus.

 

  • Experience working with numbers in a professional setting.

 

  • Experience with project management tasks is required.

 

  • Big plus if you have any of these:
  • Construction related (architecture/engineering), education/knowledge/experience.

  • Flooring or other building materials experience.

 

  • Sales experience.

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:

High school diploma is required. College degree is not required, but all education is a plus. Specific knowledge of construction related topics is a plus.
