Due to our continued growth, Thermal Press seeks an experienced and motivated mechanical CAD Drafter/Designer to create assembly models and fabrication drawings for machined parts, using Solidworks.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Position Overview:

The primary mission of this role will be the generation of new layouts, assemblies and part models, using Solidworks.

 

Create detailed fabrication and assembly drawings for manufacturing and assembly of the finished products.

 

This is a mid-level CAD design position, supporting our Senior Designer on various projects. We have an in-house CNC machine shop, and you will support the fabrication of equipment parts and custom tooling. You will join an existing team of designers.

 

Additional duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain part drawing database.
  • Integrate part drawings with product schematics, create new and update existing operating instructions.
  • Review/check design work produced by co-workers, subcontractors and clients.
  • The primary area of expertise shall be the updating of drawings, creating parts lists, detailing of new components including machined parts for rotating mechanisms, and packaging of electro-mechanical, electrical components. 
  • Prepare specifications for parts, assemblies, and installations; prepare complete production detail drawings; contribute design modifications to improve quality of product or facilitate manufacturing operations.

 

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

The company realizes that every interested candidate might not have all of the desired experience, and some training will be provided, but here is what they are looking for in terms of experience and skills… the more you have, the better!

 

  • Minimum of five years of experience in a professional setting.
  • Minimum five years of CAD experience.
  • Strong Solidworks skills.
  • Automation and tooling experience is a plus.
  • Good comprehension of metric to standard conversions.
  • Must have working knowledge of fits and tolerances, material and hardware sizes related to loads.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, general PC knowledge.

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:

Formal CAD drafting education is required.

AS or BS in Mechanical Engineering is a plus.
